The Athlete Input Council is proud to announce that David Hansen of Thermopolis is the new Chairperson of AIC. He takes over for Jeannie Ellinger who did a wonderful job at the helm for the last two years.

The Council held another succesful meeting during the 2017 Fall Tournament. Athlete Leaders met to get updates on the changes being made based off earlier suggestions. They also discussed new issues that they would like to see addressed. You can read the meeting notes here!

The next meeting will be determined soon.

The Fall Athlete Input Council Newsletter can be read by clicking here!  Please let Dan Lang know if you would like to be added to the mailing list to receive the newsletters!

Athlete Input Councils (AIC) are a means for athletes to express their ideas, concerns and recommendations at the local level, to help improve the quality and integrity of their Special Olympics program.  Input Councils are encouraged to meet on a regular basis and recommend new ideas and provide valuable feedback on events and competitions held at the State or Area level. The councils allow more opportunities to become involved in all aspects of Special Olympics operation on a personal level.

Having an AIC provides athletes opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve as volunteers, provide valuable input to the operation of Special Olympics, be role models for other athletes, and serve as ambassadors in the community.

The AIC at each level of the organization will have the best results if there is a volunteer to guide and facilitate the AIC. Wyoming is very lucky to have Tammie Bertlelson step into this facilitator role.

We know that our athletes are some of the most tech savvy people in the state, which is why we have created the Special Olympics Wyoming Athlete Input Council Facebook Group. This group is set up to help Special Olymdpics Wyoming Athletes connect with the AIC council, share ideas and suggestions to improve the overall athlete experience, share stories and pictures, and to stay connected to one another year round!
